February 2009 - Ridge Labs is proud to announce version 4.0 of its MIRTH Video Device test tool product. Using Ridge Labs’ patent pending control and feedback architecture, MIRTH provides a level of control and validation of video consumer electronics devices that has not been previously available. In addition to existing support for testing of Blu-ray and DVD products, version 4.0 adds digital video and audio capture and comparison allowing white and black box testing of any video device with HDMI output. MIRTH’s A/V capture supports HDCP encrypted streams so any commercial device can be tested. The easy to use MIRTH user interface has been modified in version 4.0 to support set-top box products as well as Blu-ray/DVD products and will support customized virtual remote controls to adapt to any device. MIRTH is an automated test tool designed to run repeatable high volume tests of Blu-ray players and now any video device. MIRTH sends IR commands to the device, mimicking the device’s remote control. It then captures the devices digital video and audio output and compares to known good data or between two devices for 100% assurance that the output is correct. The video and audio capture support also allows MIRTH to now be used as a video quality analysis tool. MIRTH still retains the ability to receive player status feedback via Ethernet and the simple MIRTH simple protocol layered over the standard syslog internet protocol and can compare internal player status to determine test success. MIRTH includes tools to generate regression and random tests, and can be scripted through the industry standard Python scripting language, for unlimited testing possibilities. Version 4.0 of the MIRTH test tool can be demonstrated now and will be available for purchase shortly. November 2008 - Ridge Labs is pleased to publically announce its partnership with Videon Central Inc a leading provider of DVD and Blu-ray Disc middleware software for embedded systems. The Videon software stack is used in several of the leading Blu-ray products in the market today. Available immediately, the Videon DVD/Blu-ray supports the MIRTH protocol so that Videon customers have the ability to use MIRTH with no extra integration.
